No pictures yet, but the basic construction of my Dobservatory is complete. I'm happy to share tips with anyone who's building an observatory this summer. Just send me an email. Here are some of the basic features: Since I own an 8 and a new 14.5 Starmaster, I had to come up with a design with low side walls

Nice report Richard! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I plan on building a dual pier observatory soon. This year? Well, I have to finish the kid's swing set and play tower. You know the kind with the Turbo Twisty Tube for a slide? I need a dual pier for both of my scopes and I plan on a third so I may have to take that into consideration as a possible upgrade path in the future. Meade LX-200 10 w / Super Wedge TeleVue Genesis SDF on an AP 400 GTO Future scope will be an AP 155mm or 130mm on a 900 or 1200 GTO. I am considering a DOB in the future for travel to dark sky sites. It most definitely will be in the 12 to 16 range and of course be a truss tube version. I hope you are enjoying the Dobservatory!

Thank You!  I was very pleased to hear of someone building an observatory for a dob.  Many of the plans I've seen are for Schmidt Cassegrains which require a different setup. I too am planning a similar observatory and haven't decided on my final plans yet.  Still collecting info and yours was very helpful.  I'm having trouble incorporating some kind of light block in my roll off for a bright street light that's about 100 yards  to my north. Thanks again.  Let me know if you ever post photos of it. Dan

Looks great, Richard!  In my quest to think through my project I have come to the conclusion that I would need a solid concrete or brick flooring to avoid the vibration of boards.  Have you had any problems or concerns with this?  What did you do to avoid this?  I noticed that you had a wood floor.
